We visited Split for an afternoon during our stay in Sevid. Getting into the city took longer than expected, and navigating the streets required GPS – the old coastal core is now surrounded by modern residential and business districts.

Fruit Square quickly became one of our favourite spots:

Sitting on warm stone steps, sharing a cone, listening to music and watching the evening unfold – it’s one of those simple travel moments that stays with you.
The Riva: Split’s Social Heart
The waterfront promenade – known as the Riva – is where Split truly comes alive.

It’s perfect for:

Split gained additional fame as a filming location for Game of Thrones.
You’ll find:

• Themed tours
But what stood out more to us were the unexpected details – like a Christmas shop open in the middle of summer.
It’s a small thing, but somehow it fits Split perfectly – a mix of history, tourism, and little surprises.
Food & Evenings in Split
Split truly comes alive after sunset.
As the temperature drops:

If you’re travelling by car:
- Parking near the old town is limited
- Spaces fill quickly in peak season
We managed to find a spot near the promenade early in the evening – but within a couple of hours, it was completely full.
